Cellulite

Problems with Cellulite / Treatment of Cellulite

Most women are troubled by cellulite, some more than other. Cellulite is a condition which gives the skin a surface similar to that of an orange peel. Cellulite mostly occur on the thighs, hips, and buttocks. Many people - women in particular - want to know how they can get rid of cellulite. Unfortunately, there is not yet any really convincing treatments available against this condition.

Scientists seem to disagree on the cause of cellulite. Most believe that cellulite is genetically determined. Furthermore, hormonal changes, along with weight gain, can also cause the development of cellulite.

It is important to keep a critical mind about the vast range of available products that all claim to be able to alleviate cellulite. According to the ASAPS, which is the leading American society for aesthetic plastic surgeons, a liposuction or a body lift will not reduce cellulite. They also advice that one should be very sceptical towards creams, lotions, herbal remedies, and diet supplements as a cure for cellulite. There is no scientific evidence to show that any of these products provide long-lasting results.

The FDA (the American Food and Drug Administration) has approved of a treatment against cellulite which is called endermology. Endermology is mechanical massage-therapy. It should be able to temporarily remove cellulite. This treatment is also available at many clinics in the UK. Keep in mind, though, that there are still no permanent treatment against cellulite.
